Development of smart materials with the additive manufacturing for high-performance systems
This project aims to develop novel materials based on thermoplastic polymers modified with nanoadditives and nanofillers, suitable to print compatible smart material components with different functionalities. The smart material items will be fabricated using customised multi-material FDM equipment capable of printing assisted by dedicated design tools such as multi-scale simulation tools, data analytics and CAD/CAM software. The FDM printing will be demonstrated in health, aeronautics, automotive and civil engineering.
