Hydrophobic hyaluronic acid-based nanofibers could find a use in biomedicine

Researchers prepared a water-insoluble nanofibrous antimicrobial material based on hyaluronic acid for the possible application in biomedicine.

Nanotechnology centre

The Nanotechnology centre's history began in 1992 with the establishment of the Central Analytical Laboratory (CAL) at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava lead by professor Zdeněk Weiss. Laboratories were then equipped with the state-of-the-art apparatus purchased via the European PHARE project. Their main objective was to offer services to VSB – Technical University of Ostrava and customers from the industrial, business, and legislative sectors. In 1997, the laboratory services were accredited by the Czech Accreditation Institute; this accreditation is still being prolonged and expanded.
